  • Global Cooling?

February 8th, 2008 Puteri Posted in Global Warming, Weather Stories No Comments »

Climate Change: Not every scientist is part of Al Gore’s mythical “consensus.” Scientists worried about a new ice age seek funding to better observe something bigger than your SUV — the sun.

Back in 1991, before Al Gore first shouted that the Earth was in the balance, the Danish Meteorological Institute released a study using data that went back centuries that showed that global temperatures closely tracked solar cycles.

To many, those data were convincing. Now, Canadian scientists are seeking additional funding for more and better “eyes” with which to observe our sun, which has a bigger impact on Earth’s climate than all the tailpipes and smokestacks on our planet combined.

And they’re worried about global cooling, not warming.

    Full story here.

    Global cooling?

    The sun?

Err, doesn’t this sound familiar? Haven’t I written something about global cooling in the past?

    Yes!

You have got to read this article. Forget the global warming hysteria. Look around you and see how cold this winter has been in a lot of places! Even Bagdad had snow. Jerusalem had snow. Parts of China are natural disaster areas because of the heavy snow.

A lot of people are going to die and suffer if there is global cooling. Crops will fail. Famine.

Is there anything that can be done to stop global cooling. No. Just as there is nothing much we can do if indeed there is global warming.

Except to ADAPT to the weather like our forefathers have done in the past.

John Kerry’s global warming and tornado connection

February 7th, 2008 Puteri Posted in Weather Stories No Comments »

Politicians using tragedy to advance an agenda has been a tried-and-true strategy. Paint the idea green and a natural catastrophe became political fodder for former Democratic presidential nominee Sen. John Kerry (Mass.).

Kerry appeared on MSNBC on February 6 to discuss storms that have killed at least 50 people throughout the Southeastern United States. So, of course, Kerry used the platform to advance global warming alarmism.

“[I] don’t want to sort of leap into the larger meaning of, you know, inappropriately, but on the other hand, the weather service has told us we are going to have more and more intense storms,” Kerry said. “And insurance companies are beginning to look at this issue and understand this is related to the intensity of storms that is related to the warming of the earth. And so it goes to global warming and larger issues that we’re not paying attention to. The fact is the hurricanes are more intensive, the storms are more intensive and the rainfall is more intense at certain places at certain times and the weather patterns have changed.”

    Full story here.

    Huh?

I think this is a fine example why politicians should stick to politics and leave climate science to climate scientists.

Does he know how moronic he sounds like? How opportunistic? How alarmist? How about ignorant, err, does moronic include ignorance in its definition?

Roger Edwards, a meteorologist, has said no scientific studies have ever related tornadoes with global warming.

So how is it that a politician like John Kerry dare even suggest the connection between tornadoes and global warming?

Oh. He is a politician, and they do tend to speak from both sides of their mouths.

    Nice day

February 6th, 2008 Puteri Posted in Weather Stories No Comments »

I was out and about quite early this morning after dropping my kids off at their preschool.

The sun was shining and only a slight wind was blowing. What a difference a day made! Yesterday morning it was freezing and we could see our breath as we got into the car.

This morning the temperature was still on the cool side but the warmth from the sun made a lot of difference. When I went outside to shoo the geese out off the front patio, I did not notice the chill at all.

Wow, I thought, maybe I should go for a walk after lunch today! It has been a while since I took a walk. I hate to be outside when it is cold, but since the weather has remained dry all week and it looks like it is warming up nicely, I might go for a walk.

Yes, that is what I will do! Go for a walk!

    Freezing in China

February 1st, 2008 Puteri Posted in News Stories, Uncategorized, Weather Stories No Comments »

    31 January 2008
Some trains are operating again but crowds remain at stationsChina’s worst snow storms in half a century have caused 54bn yuan (£3.8bn) of damage, officials have announced.

Sixty people are now known to have died as a result of the severe weather, which began three weeks ago.

Millions of travellers remain stranded as they try to get home for next week’s Lunar New Year holiday, with the army helping to clear railways and roads.

    Full story here.

Have you seen the crowds at the train stations in China? My goodness, it is almost like the whole country is at the train stations!!

I feel very sorry for these people who are hoping to get home in time for the Chinese New Year. The way the weather is going, it doesn’t look like many will make it home. So what if they managed to get on a train? For all you know that train might be stuck in the middle of nowhere in the freezing cold! That would be a lot worse than being by yourself in your rented room for the Chinese New Year!

Imagine 60 people have been known to have died from this big freeze in China! The worse snow storms in half a century.

Come on, there’s no global warming!! People have died from the cold weather, in the last few years, but I have yet to hear of people having died due to global warming!

There is NO global warming!

    Rain and Snow

January 22nd, 2008 Puteri Posted in Weather Stories No Comments »

It rained all night last night and it was still raining this morning.  The temperatures have generally been cold, and they have been like this the past week or so.

In the higher elevations it is snowing and I am sure those who love the winter sports find the weather much to their liking! I consider it fortunate that where I live, I do not have to deal with snow.  If I want to see snow and play in the snow a little bit, it is only a two-hour drive away!  :-)

This brings to mind my favorite subject, Global Warming.  It amuses me to no end that the weather is not cooperating with the global warming hysterics.  Can you imagine saying “global warming has been postponed” because of the extraordinarily cold weather in Greenland?

There was even snow in Palo Alto yesterday.  That is a rare occurrence in that part of California.   It is extremely cold in many parts of the country.

I’d like to think that global warming has been postponed permanently.

Global Warming Protest in the Snow

January 18th, 2008 Puteri Posted in Global Warming, Weather Stories No Comments »

    200801globalwarmingprotest_small.jpg

It snowed, but they still came. A heavy snowfall blanketed a global warming protest outside the State House in Annapolis this morning, but it did not dampen the shouts of about 400 activists who urged lawmakers to pass the nation’s toughest greenhouse gas control law.

As supporters waved signs, chanted and banged drums, 18 legislators walked down a symbolic green carpet to sign up as co-sponsors to a bill that would mandate that all businesses in Maryland cut emissions of global warming pollution by 25 percent by 2020 and 90 percent by 2050.

    Full story here.

You would think that these protesters would not choose a cold winter’s day to protest about global warming!

How can people be convinced that there is global warming when there is no sign of any warming?

Meanwhile in Greenland, temperatures dropped to -25 degrees celcius, and the answer to the frigid weather by global warming believers is that “global warming has been postponed” despite water having frozen over for the first time in a decade.

That’s the followers of the religion of global warming for you.

    Cold Weather

January 14th, 2008 Puteri Posted in Weather Stories No Comments »

tues_cold.jpgOne of the coldest air masses of the winter on Tuesday will begin pushing into the northern Plains. Meanwhile, the potent nor’easter that today slammed New England by tonight will move into Atlantic Canada.

The Midwest Regional News story reports arctic air that has been bottled up in Alaska has begun to creep into the northern Plains. Temperatures at 2 a.m. CST today were as much as 20 to 30 degrees colder than the reading 24 hours earlier.

Temperatures on Tuesday will be even colder across the northern Rockies and Plains. Temperatures during the day Tuesday could plunge by as much as 30 degrees, while gusty winds create RealFeel temperatures that will feel substantially colder. By Thursday, high temperatures in many areas of the northern Plains could be below zero.

It tickles me, every time I read stories like this. Yeah, it ain’t a global warming story for sure!

I remember a few years ago when January was so mild that the fruit trees in my neighbour’s orchard started blooming!  But today, there is no sign of spring yet.

Listen people, the earth is cooling!   Look at the signs!
