Immigration: Arizona moves to protect its citizens from a raging border war, and the administration and its activist supporters cry racism. Why is antelope protection more important than protecting American lives?

‘We in Arizona have been more than patient waiting for Washington to act,” Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer said Friday after signing a tough new immigration law giving police more power in dealing with illegal immigration. “But decades of inaction and misguided policy have created a dangerous and unacceptable situation.”

Arizona’s new law is a reminder that the states formed the federal government and not the other way around. One of the federal government’s functions was to provide for the security of the new country against foreign enemies and intruders. At this, and particularly under this administration, it has failed miserably.

Read the full story from Investors Business Daily here.

Obama calls the new law “irresponsible” and “misguided”. I think those two words describe the President’s position more accurately than they do Arizona’s.

Today, Eric Holder, the Attorney General, the one who is supposed to enforce the nation’s laws, says that his department may challenge the state of Arizona law in court. And the most laughable statement of the day came from Janet Napolitano – “It is secure now as it has ever been.”

Unbelievable!

I am a legal resident. I am required to show my passport, my green card, and even have my picture taken every time I re-enter the country from a trip overseas. Why do I have to go through all these at the airport, yet south of the border, anyone can come through without so much as a travel document?

And I am supposed to be worried about being profiled?

That is the least of my worries! I have all the documents to show that I am not illegal in this country, and I have broken no laws! Why should I be worried?

All the hyper-ventilating over the law is just cover for the pro-amnesty crowd. Enforce the existing laws and secure the borders, and Arizona might not have to come up with this new law.

The liberal elite’s hypocrisy knows no bounds. Victor Davis Hanson’s article Our Angry Aristocracy captures that hypocrisy so well.

The last two paragraphs of that article:

Or is the new hypocrisy an eerie sort of psychological compensation at work? Perhaps the more Al Gore rails about carbon emissions, the more he can without guilt enjoy what emits them. The more Professor Gates can cite racism, the more he himself is paid to spot it. And the more a Tom Daschle wants to tax and spend for health care, the less badly he feels about his own chauffer and tax avoidance?

Here’s a little advice for all of America’s aristocratic critics: a little less hypocrisy, a little more appreciation of your good lives — and then maybe the rest of us will listen to you a little more.

To many followers of Obama, he is the messiah, the Obamessiah. So is it any wonder that this false messiah, offering hope and change, would find it necessary to cover up the name of the real Messiah near the spot he is speaking to his teleprompter?

Don’t know what I am talking about?

How about this story reported by CNSNews.com – Georgetown Says It Covered Over Name of Jesus to Comply With White House Request?

If Obama objects to signs and symbols reflecting Christianity near him, he should not have spoken at a Catholic University. But then again, he has to cover up his ass after claiming that America is not a Christian nation.

So now he has to put to rest that niggling suspicion that some people have about him being a secret Muslim. Hence that speech, held at Georgetown University and making references to the Sermon on the Mount about building something on a rock …

No, of course the false messiah doesn’t want to share the stage with the name of the real Messiah behind him! There’s only room for one messiah at a time! And yes, he’s the one we’ve been waiting for!

Yeah. Right.

Someone on the radio said this morning – give Eric Holder, the new attorney general, six months, and see if he won’t be replaced.

What was all that talk about the country being a nation of cowards where the subject of race is concerned?

I agree with Rush Limbaugh today, he, Rush, is no coward. Look what his reference to race with regards to Donovan McNabe got him? Cries of racism!

Want to know who the racist is? Jeremiah Wright and ilks like him! And guess who sat in Jeremiah Wright’s church pew, for 20 years and soaked all that in? Obama, you betcha!

And when Eric Holder says we are a nation of cowards, he is actually saying we are cowards because we don’t agree with his view of how the subject of race should be treated! And that is treat minorities and their rights with liberal kid gloves, and bend over backwards to address their perceived grievances.

I like Ward Connerly’s reaction to what Eric Holder said.

The old saying, “be careful of what you wish for,” applies here.

In characterizing the American people as “cowards” for not openly discussing their attitudes about race, the attorney general seems to be be anxious to provoke a dialogue about the subject. Yet, there is no evidence, based on his presidential campaign, that President Obama wants to have such a discussion.

Moreover, it is difficult to have such a discussion when some with differing views are harshly and publicly attacked for their views. For example, when asked about my initiatives to end race preferences, candidate Obama labeled them as those “divisive Ward Connerly initiatives.” Such characterization is hardly consistent with the view that we should openly put our views about race on public display.

I also believe the attorney general is out of step with the majority of Americans when he implies that the source of and solution to most social disparities is race. I believe most Americans are no longer content with this line of thinking and its ultimate conclusion of race-based solutions to resolve these disparities.

I am sure there are lots of black people like Ward Connerly who feel the way he does about Holder’s speech.

Besides being a dunder head, Ms Pelosi is a partisan hack who takes every opportunity to bash Bush. So the financial crisis is the result of Bush’s failed economic policy, eh? And the financial crisis is a result of there being no regulation, no supervision on the markets, eh?

Did you watch the Saddleback Church Civil Forum of the two presumptive presidential nominees? I watched some of it and saw a replay of some of the highlights of Obama’s and McCain’s interview.

What is clear to me is that Obama is indeed and empty suit with a very thin resume. The office of President is not an entry level position but Obama whose ego is apparent in most of his speeches has been caught lying about his position on abortion and his so called reaching across the aisle and working with John McCain on ethics and campaign finance reform.

His comments today asking John McCain not to question his patriotism sounds juvenile and shows someone with a very thin skin, desperate to show the world that he has what it takes to become president. John McCain is right when he said, he has never questioned Obama’s patriotism but has indeed questioned his judgment.

People are learning more and more about Obama and the glow surrounding him seems to be dimming if the latest polls are anything to go by.

McCain would be wise to choose a running mate that has a proven conservative track record if he wants to keep the gains he made at the Saddleback forum.

Berkeley, California is a another city run by left wing kooks. Berkeley makes Boulder City look normal in comparison.

The Berkeley City Council has given Code Pink, an anti-war group, a parking space in front of the Marine Corp Recruiting office. They have also given Code Pink a letter that they are to deliver to the Marines to let them know they are “uninvited and unwelcome intruders” in Berkeley.

Who else in Berkeley would get the same kind of right to a dedicated parking space besides Code Pink? No other group, I am sure. That parking space is being used by Code Pink protesters to show their displeasure at the presence of the Marines in Berkeley, in hopes of getting them to close down.

It seems that the Berkeley City Council’s treatment of the Marines is going to backfire on them.

The proposal to strip $2.1 millions in earmarks to the city by South Carolina Republican Sen. Jim DeMint, has changed the minds of some of the City Council members. The council voted 7-2 Wednesday not to send the letter (telling the Marines they were uninvited and unwelcome intruders), while restating its opposition to the war and refusing to apologize.

These same hypocritical left wing kooks in the City Council and Code Pink would like to send a peace keeping force to Dafur, Sudan. Where do they think these peace keeping force would come from? The City Council Members? Code Pink Members?

The military that they hate so much, of course!

A move to draft a Boulder City Council resolution supporting the impeachment of President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney likely won’t get enough support to get off the ground Tuesday.A canvass of the City Council shows there aren’t likely to be the five votes required to draft, debate and eventually hold a vote on the measure as activists have requested.

City Councilman Macon Cowles last week told his colleagues that he plans to ask for a vote Tuesday on whether to move forward with an impeachment resolution. For the past several weeks, supporters of such a move have been speaking at City Council meetings and handing out “Impeach” pins.

Cowles said the activists deserve to know whether the council will act on their resolution. But Cowles said he won’t support it, although he agrees with the sentiments it expresses.

Full story here.

Forbes may have named Boulder the “smartest city” in the US, but it sure doesn’t have some very smart members in the City Council!

Why is it the City’s business to have the President and the Vice President impeached? Why didn’t the City Council ask their elected senators and congress persons to propose articles of impeachment on the President and Vice President? That would at least have got somewhere if they were that determined to impeach the President and Vice President.

Whatever the City Council members are doing may make them feel good, but in fact an actual waste of time.

If there were grounds for impeaching the President and Vice President Congress would have done it a long time ago. Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid are leading the Senate and House of Representatives. They are not exactly Bush’s and Cheney’s supporters!

Why haven’t they done it?

Because they know there is no basis for the impeachment! They may not like what is going on with the war in Iraq and Afghanistan but they know politically, it would be suicide for them to go through with impeachment of the President and Vice President!

Let the kooks like Rep Henry Waxman of California do all the toothless attempts at impeaching the President!

Dr Chua Soi Lek is only the latest in the list of Malaysian politicians who got themselves involved in some sex scandal or other. He was stupid enough to get himself caught, and who knows the number of politicians who go about their sexual dalliances without the knowledge of their family and the public?

So what else is new? Men in powerful positions are attractive to young women especially young women who are willing to do anything to get ahead or bathe in the reflected glory of their sex partners.

D.P. VIJANDRAN

IN late 1989, the former Dewan Rakyat deputy speaker was forced to resign following a sex videotape controversy. In 1994, Vijandran, the former MIC secretary-general, was convicted by a Sessions Court on a perjury charge where his involvement in a pornographic tape was revealed in court. The lawyer was sentenced to one month’s jail and fined RM2,000, in default two weeks’ jail. He lost his appeal in the High Court in 1996 but the Court of Appeal ruled in his favour in August 1998 saying he should not have been called to enter his defence as the prosecution had failed to prove the charges.

DATUK SERI ANWAR IBRAHIM

IN September 1998, former deputy prime minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was expelled from Umno. He was accused of sexual misconduct including sodomy, illicit sex and seducing a businessman’s wife. On Sept 2, 2004, he was acquited by the Federal Court of the sodomy charge. Anwar had earlier served a six-year sentence for corruption.

TAN SRI RAHIM THAMBY CHIK

IN November 1994, then attorney-general Datuk Mohtar Abdullah cleared the former Malacca chief minister of the allegation that he had sex with an underage girl. The allegation, which attracted wide attention, led to Rahim’s resignation from all political and government posts. The girl had lodged reports against 25 men and 11 were charged.

S ASSAMALEY

THE DAP assemblyman’s wife committed suicide by drowning herself in May 1991. Party leaders subsequently blamed a local daily for front-paging an article suggesting that Assamaley had an extra-marital affair.

He announced his resignation a day after her body was found floating in the sea south of Penang Bridge. He died in May 2000 at the age of 50 after a stroke.

TAN SRI ABU HASSAN OMAR

RUMOURS that he fathered a child out of wedlock with his sister-in-law surfaced after an article headlined “Selangor Menteri Besar denies sex scandal” was printed in an Indonesian tabloid in July 2000.

Then 60 years old, he subsequently resigned as the shortest-serving MB in the state’s history after serving slightly more than three years and three months.

He cited health reasons.

Isn’t it typical of politicians to promise you the moon in order to get elected? Vote for me, and I’ll promise you you’ll get free health care, free prescription drugs and free education. Not enough? How about $5000 for your baby to help him buy a house or pay for his college education in the future? Sounds good?

I am sure there are many out there who think these are good ideas and that they deserve these free assistance from the government. But there are just as many of us who are incredulous that politicians can promise these “free” benefits and believe that it won’t cost us, the individual taxpayer, a dime in the long run.

The government cannot even promise that there’ll be money to make social security payments when my kids retire, and politicians dare to promise more handouts?

Why are there not more politicians encouraging people to get themselves educated, encouraging people to save and invest whatever money they can, offering ways to lessen bureaucracy in health care management so there will be more choices and health care become more affordable, championing lower taxes, and providing incentives for small businesses who are the biggest employers in the country instead of penalizing them by taxing them out of business or forcing them to provide health care they can barely afford?

I am not against giving assistance to those who are truly needy, but the government should be doing things that allow people and families to be more independent and make it affordable and possible for them to provide some basic needs like health care for their family or for families to own a home.

Bureaucracy and waste are rampant where the government is in charge of things like education. Unnecessary and rigid regulations in home constructions have artificially increased home prices and made buying and owning homes out of reach for many.

Instead of promising free benefits for all kinds of things, politicians should promise to fix whatever in broken, and improve whatever is not efficient. Put political calculations aside and do what is right for the future of the country and the hardworking people who want to get ahead with as little assistance as possible from the government.
