Eating durian in Kota Bharu
We were in Kota Bharu, Kelantan recently and it happened to be durian season. Durian is very cheap in Kota Bharu compared to in Miri, my home town.
When Zawi, my blogger friend, brought us to a market in Kota Bharu, Doug and I couldn’t resist eating a durian there and then. Most hotels do not allow durian to be brought into the room because of the foul stale smell of durian that can permeate through the whole hotel, so eating the durian at the market was the simplest solution to the problem!
I told my mother about how cheap the durians were in Kota Bharu and she was so envious! In Miri, they weigh the durian and a good durian would usually cost more than twenty ringgit each and there’s no guarantee that the one we bought would be any good!
This is the durian that we paid for and ate. It only cost eight ringgit fifty sen (about US $2.50). It was delicious!
I snagged this picture from Zawi’s blog. We were too busy eating the durian to take a picture of ourselves eating the durian. I love durians but unfortunately it gives me gas.
But this time, the price for having to deal with gas was worth paying.
