I use prepaid phone cards to call my friends and family in Malaysia. The thing about these cards is that you have to key in a PIN, then an 800 number before you can start dialing the destination you want. The voice quality is sometimes iffy and a lot of times I can hear feedback of myself talking. And talking to my mother over the phone using a service provided by these prepaid card phone companies can be quite a challenge. My mother’s hearing is not the best in the world, and many times I have to repeat myself or practically shout into the phone!

Using my cell phone to call my family back in Malaysia? Forget it! It is just too expensive!
