Christmas Lights at Judy’s home

by Puteri | December 17th, 2007

Last night we took the kids to my late friend, Judy Sassman’s home. Judy died in March this year after suffering from a massive stroke late last year.

Every Christmas, Judy and her husband Earl, do up their house in bright decorative Christmas lights. Their home is featured every year on Dave’s 12 days to Christmas show on the local CBS TV station. This year was especially poignant for us because Judy was no longer around to welcome us.

One of the attractions at Judy’s home was the memory tree. The tree was started in memory of their daughter who died of cancer in 1994. Visitors to their home can write the names of their loved ones who have died on bell shaped ornaments and hang them on the tree. The memory tree has grown to a few trees. This year Judy’s family hung their own bell shaped ornaments in memory of her on a big tree in the center of their backyard.

This is how Judy and Earl’s home look like from the road.

The first thing Duncan said when we arrived at Judy’s home was, “I like this place!”

The big tree in the back with an angel at the top is specially dedicated to Judy. There are big bell shaped ornaments hung on the tree with messages from her family. I miss Judy. :-(

  1. Sorry abt your friend..I am sure she is in a better place now and reunite with her daugher.

The place is really beautiful, they really go all out to make it great.

It can only happen there, over here, after one or two days (if lucky) already got few things missing already, if not all.

    Thanks for sharing.

Yes, she is indeed in a better place. I met Judy a couple of months before she had her stroke. Doug told me about her stroke while I was in Malaysia.

Most places are safe and the decorations are left undisturbed. Remember most homes do not have fences here! If there are fences, there are no gates!
