Feels like fall is here
Autumn is not officially here yet but it sure feels like fall today. The sky was overcast, and the temperature was under 50 F at 7.00 a.m. this morning. No wonder I felt cold under the covers last night despite wearing socks in bed!
This morning I dressed both kids in their long pants and long sleeves for school. I made sure they had their jackets with them in case it remained cold when they had recess. But the weather warmed up a bit during the day but stayed around 70 F.
I was still wearing my sweatshirt around the house after I had dropped off the kids at their preschool. And I kept the sweatshirt on while working in my studio. The studio is usually the hottest or the coldest room in the house because it is not that well insulated. Moreover, I left the door open because I wanted to air out the house after last night’s cooking. Salt fish and shrimp paste are tasty but they sure leave an unpleasant smell in the house!
Summer this year was the mildest I’d ever remember since moving to this country. But it sure is nice to experience the next season. We don’t get a lot of fall colors here but still whatever trees that do change colors I always enjoy looking at their bright red, yellow, and orange fall colors.
But I feel sorry for the water melons that continue to grow on the plant. I don’t think they’ll mature because of the cold. Next year I’ll be sure to plant the water melon early in the season so I can enjoy more of the fruit.
So what’s the weather like in your part of the world?
